it is the goal of every company to get you to recognize its name. to do this, the company name is always printed in the same way, using the same letters and the same colors. so, when customers see the same “look” to the company name day-in and day-out, they begin to recognize it without having to read it.
when this happens, the advertisement is a success. the buyer recognizes the brand on certain products when they are shopping around. so they are more inclined to purchase these products instead of the ones whose brands they don’t know as well. this technique is called “brand recognition” and it is a clever way to increase the company sales. it is very widely practiced in the advertising industry. you might like to make a list of the brands that you recognize and see if you have bought those products. when you do this exercise, you will agree that advertising has influenced the way you buy things and use them in your life.
advertisements can be placed nearly everywhere and they have become enormously popular on the internet. that means that customers can see them at any time and from any place, provided they can access the internet. a new type of commerce has developed, called e-commerce (“e” stands for electronic), and every kind of product can be bought and sold using the internet. this latest marketplace is very new and exciting, and many experts believe that it will change the way that advertising, shopping and business commerce are done in the future.
we cannot predict the future of advertising, but one thing is certain — advertisements are here to stay and will always be a source of information, humor, creativity and innovation which influences our lives.
